The Plateau State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Yiljap Abraham announced that the government will revamp the Nigerian Standard newspaper.

According to Abraham, 228 million naira will be allocated for the purchase of a medium newspaper printing machine, 10 million for printing materials which will last one year, 21 million for 3 Hilux trucks and 1 Toyota Corolla.  Meanwhile 20 million will be used to purchase a 1,500kva power generator that will supply electricity to the press house. The investment, which totals 279 million naira, is to come from a bulk loan from Zenith Bank which will fund both media communication and the expansion of water supply.

Abraham said that investment was made so that the Nigerian Standard can defend the interest of the Middle Belt because of socio-political trends in Nigeria.
